Agave Weberi

$9.00

This is a hardy agave variety that can handle both high heat and low temperatures.  Even so, you can tell from the picture there is leaf burn on the tips of this plant.  These plants are larger than Weber Azul or Lemeno and consequently, should be spaced further apart down the row, perhaps 6-7 feet, resulting in ~ 650 plants/ac on 11-foot centers.  They appear to be bit more drought tolerant requiring ~ half a foot of water/ac/yr.  This variety has been used to make mezcal and seems like a good variety for CA.  Expect the plant to flower in 10-12 years.  We currently do not have information on sugar levels, but have been told anecdotally sugars are ~ 40% less then Weber Azul.  Pinas can weigh over 400 pounds.
